WEEK ONE - PHASE TWO

And now, after all the hurly burly days of work submission and life shaping days of Community Living Camp, here we are — back to school, all set for Phase Two of Internship.

Day 1

The second phase of my Internship began today (03/11/2025) at Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. I met the school Sanskrit teacher, Smt. Fathima Beevi, and had a brief interaction regarding the classes and timetable.

I was assigned a substitution class in Class 8A, followed by my first teaching session for Class VII during the third period. The students were quite playful and energetic. Many of them were hesitant to say their names, and a few engaged in mischievous behaviour, making the classroom atmosphere lively yet challenging. As it was my first experience handling the class independently, it helped me understand the importance of classroom management and patience.

I observed the mid-day meal programme, which reflected the school’s commitment to student welfare.

In the afternoon, from 1:00 pm onwards, I assisted in preparing students for the Sub-District Kalotsavam, supporting them in practice and coordination activities. The day ended with a sense of learning, adjustment, and growing confidence as a prospective teacher.

Day 2

Today (04/11/2025) — I had my first teaching session for Class IX during fourth period. The students were talkative and easily distracted, which made classroom management a challenging yet learning experience. I went for the mid-day meal programme. Later in the day, I was involved in preparing the students for Sanskrit Sub-District Kalotsavam.

Day 3

Today (05/11/2025), I took my first period class for Class VII, followed by Kalotsavam practice sessions. After the lunch break, the students continued their practice for the Kalotsavam, showing dedication and teamwork. In the fourth period, I had class in Class IX. The day highlighted the balance between academic teaching and co-curricular activities in school life.

Day 4

Today (06/11/2025), I engaged Class VII during the second period. At 11:30 am, a drawing competition was organised for UP and HS students under the leadership of the Lions Club, on the theme “Peace.” The event encouraged creativity and value-based learning among students. After observing the mid-day meal, I handled my Class IX in the fifth period. Due to some physical discomfort, I had to leave the school after the class.

Day 5

Today (07/11/2025), I was scheduled to take Class IX during the fifth period as per my time table, but due to certain adjustments, the class was shifted to the third period. After the class, I assisted students in their Kalotsavam practice. As it was Friday, classes concluded at 3:30 pm, and I left the school accordingly.

Week One was a valuable learning experience that helped me understand classroom dynamics, student behaviour, and the importance of adaptability as a prospective teacher.
